Measurement Tuner
Designed to Improve the Solving Capability ofWLS State Estimation


Background
Weighted Least Square (WLS) state estimation works very well under normal system load levels and error-free measurements. However, measurements containing gross errors usually lead to a bias WLS solution or even unavailability of WLS state estimation. This novel measurement tuner is designed to work as a pre-procedure to obtain a “clean” measurements for WLS state estimation.

 

Main feature
To improve the solving capability of Weighted Lease Square (WLS) state estimation by identifying and removing large disagreement among measurements including circuit breaker (CB) status.

 

Large disagreement among measurement

    1) Transmission line topology errors caused by wrong CB status measurements

    2) Bus merge errors and Bus split errors caused by wrong CB status measurements

    3) Parameter errors

    4) Measurement value errors

    5) Unsynchronized measurements

     

Problems caused by large disagreement among measurements

    1) Bias of the WLS state estimation solutions

    2) Unavailability of the system monitoring
